Despite the trauma of the on-going industrial strike embarked opon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the federal and state owned universities, since February, 14, 2022, there are promises of a better campus life, for new students and returning students, of the university of Calabar, when the campus is finally opened.
Since giving a promise to complete all abandoned projects on campus the Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, professor Florence Banku Obi, the 11th substantive vice-chancellor of University of Calabar and the first female vice-chancellor since the inception of the institution, seems to have swung into action, to fulfil her promises.
The result today, are the renovated and newly completed building complexes, on the university campus. One of the completed projects, is the university of calabar Law building, which was commenced over ten years ago, and has gulped over 350 million Naira.
Road Newly Renovated by NDDC
The Niger Delta Development Corporation (NDDC) has also been kind enough to renovate, the dilapidated road network on campus, noticeably built in collaboration with the first Vice Chancellor of the university of Calabar.Such connections are vital in the future for rapid development of campus infrastructure. Various universitied in western Nigeria, have benefitted largely from multinational and intra-national corporate organizations, generous business moguls and old student associations.
Newly Completed Hall Ten (Already in Use)
We are delighted to furnish, students of this illustrious, university who have been residing outside calabar, within the seven month hiatus, with the first glimpses of the building complexes and renovated roads, that will positively enhance their lifestyle and learning experiences on campus after resumption.

Below is the magnificent law faculty building and the last building is one of the newly completed complexes in place of the examination halls. This extensive complex also consists of lecture halls and staff offices.
At this rate, it appears the new vice chancellor is fully committed to achieving, her stated intention to complete all abandoned projects.
